LE 1020 - Essential College Study
My essential college study class has taught me a lot it has helped prepare me for college and better my life. The first thing our teacher taught us were the three principals of our class. That tie into everything in life. Which are:
I learned about the Secret and that its the Law of attraction. You attract the thins you think about. Therefore you should try to always think positive. Having positive thoughts will bring about positive things in your life. We create our own reality. David Kold had a theory about experiential learning. If you have not experienced something you do not know what to think of it. All thought has to begin with an experience. Our class did a learning style inventory and learned where we fit on the learning style profile model. I was caught at 60% in between Reflective Observation and Concrete Experience, which made me a Diverger. I learned Divergers preform better in situations that call for generation of ideas like brainstorming. I am able to view concrete situations from different prospectives.
We went over Blooms Taxonomy and the levels of understanding things. Our understanding begins with knowledge of the subject to the comprehension of the matter, than applying it to situations in your life. So you can relate to things and are able to analyze the situation. Then you need to synthesis it and have a final evaluation of the subject. By doing these things you can understand the matter to the fullest extent. Reading and test taking were a weekly thing we had to do. Every week we were to read a chapter and do activities out off the Peak Performance book. After we finished reading we took a test on the Canavas website. We were taught when test taking make sure you know and understand the purpose of the test. Avoid the myths and prepare effectively. Which means have a positive attitude, remember everything is relative, and ownership is the key. Abraham Maslow's theory talks about our deficit and self being needs. You have too full fill all your deficit needs before you can work on you self being. The deficit needs go from physical to safety and then social needs. Self being needs are your self esteem and self actualization.
The last thing we learned in class was about how to create mind mapping notes. The signature assignment we had to do for our Essential College Study course is a mind map of the thing I have learned through out the year.
- Attitude is Everything
- Everything is Relative
- Ownership is key
